09 Oct, 2024
Vivid

Let’s talk about the Victrix Pro BFG—this controller is seriously next level, and I’m about to show you why. Unmatched Trigger CustomizationFirst off, let’s talk about the triggers. This thing comes with five stopping points, giving you anything from a full pull to a super shallow press. Whether you’re in a high-speed shooter where you need to spam shots or in a situation requiring precision, the BFG has you covered. The best part? The back-end switches make adjusting these triggers ridiculously easy, and honestly, it almost feels like cheating with how fast you can react. Remappable Paddles for Ultimate ControlIf you’re looking for extra control, the four remappable paddle buttons are a game-changer. Need to jump or crouch while still aiming without losing momentum? Just map it to one of the paddles, and you’re good to go. And if you’re gaming across platforms, this controller is incredibly versatile. A simple switch makes it compatible with PS4, PS5, and PC. Talk about value for money! Swappable Joysticks and D-PadOne of the coolest features is the ability to swap out the joysticks and D-pad. Want to switch from the PlayStation layout to an Xbox-style offset? Done. Prefer taller or shorter analog sticks for different games? You got it. And for the fighting game enthusiasts out there, the fight pad module will let you pull off combos so fast, you’ll surprise even yourself. It’s a level of customization you don’t usually see in controllers. Pro Features, Pro DesignLike most pro controllers, the Victrix Pro BFG comes with a sleek carrying case, so you can take your setup anywhere with ease. Everything about this controller screams premium—from the customization options to the ergonomic design. So, what do you think? Is the Victrix Pro BFG your next controller, or does the DualSense Edge have your heart?

How to Pick a Replayable Game: What to Look For

09 Oct, 2024
Kenneth

Choosing a game that you’ll want to play again and again can be tricky, but if you're looking for the best value for your money, there are a few key factors that will keep you coming back for more. 1. Depth is Everything Games with a rich, expansive world, multiple choices, and alternate outcomes offer endless replay potential. Take The Witcher 3, for example. It’s packed with side quests, decisions that shape the story, and multiple endings. Every playthrough feels unique because there’s always something new to discover—a boss fight you missed, an unexplored region, or a different story arc. The more layers a game has, the more you'll want to dive back in. 2. Online Features Extend the Fun Once you finish the main storyline, online multiplayer features can extend a game’s lifespan by a lot. A perfect example is GTA 5. While the single-player mode is great, it’s the online functionality where replayability truly shines. From organizing heists to forming motorcycle gangs or just wreaking havoc in Los Santos, the endless possibilities online make this game feel new every time you log in. 3. Roguelikes Offer Infinite Runs If you’re looking for games specifically designed for replayability, roguelikes should be on your radar. Titles like Hades and Returnal shine in this regard. Each time you die, you start back at the beginning, but with different weapons, skills, or strategies. The randomness and challenge of each run ensure that no two playthroughs are the same, making these games addictively replayable. 4. Classic Multiplayer Games Are Timeless Some games are like the comfort food of the gaming world—you can always rely on them for a good time. Games like Mario Kart, FC25, NBA, and Mortal Kombat never get old, especially when played with friends. No matter how many times you’ve raced the same tracks or fought the same battles, you’re always up for another round. 5. Story-Driven Games, While Great, Aren’t Always Replayable There are, of course, games that are brilliant but not built for replayability. The Last of Us is widely considered one of the best story-driven games ever made, but once you’ve experienced the narrative, there’s not much incentive to replay it. Even with features like New Game Plus, linear games with a single, tightly crafted storyline often don’t have the same lasting appeal as games with more depth and freedom. If you’re looking for replayability, choose games that offer depth, variety, and an open world or multiplayer mode that you can immerse yourself in time and time again. Games with multiple endings, online modes, or ever-changing challenges will keep you hooked for hours. What are the games that you can’t stop playing?

Top 4 Video Game Soundtracks That Set the Perfect Mood

Vivid

When it comes to gaming, the right soundtrack can elevate the experience, and here are my top four picks that truly stand out:  #4: Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom PainThis game delivers tactical espionage with an '80s vibe, thanks to Kojima’s perfect blend of synths and rock anthems. Whether you're sneaking through enemy territory or preparing for a mission, there's always an epic tune to accompany you. Personally, I had "Take On Me" on repeat during every mission. #3: FIFA/FC SeriesWith each new installment, the FIFA/FC series consistently delivers incredible soundtracks that go beyond just the gameplay. Featuring both global superstars and lesser-known international artists, every track is a hit, making the soundtrack one of the most exciting aspects of each new release. #2: God of War & GOW RagnarokThis game’s soundtrack is nothing short of epic. From its full orchestral arrangements to intense Viking drums and deep chants, the music makes you feel invincible, whether you're battling gods or simply getting through your daily chores. #1: GTA San AndreasWhile Vice City and GTA 5 also have impressive soundtracks, nothing compares to the nostalgic vibe of cruising through Los Santos with classic hip-hop tracks blasting on the radio. It's the ultimate throwback that captures the essence of the game perfectly. That’s my list! What’s yours? Maybe Guardians of the Galaxy, Skyrim, or Spiderman? Share your favorites!

From thrilling VR experiences to long-awaited sequels and new IPs, here’s everything you need to know about the biggest reveals from the event. Batman Arkham Shadow (Meta Quest 3: October 2024) Step into the boots (or should we say cape?) of Batman in Batman Arkham Shadow, an immersive full VR experience exclusively for the Meta Quest 3. This highly-anticipated game lets you become Gotham’s caped crusader, navigating the city's dark streets in first-person VR. While it’s a bit surprising that it’s launching solely on the Meta Quest 3, there’s hope that the game may be ported to other VR platforms like PSVR, Apple Vision Quest, and older Meta Quest units shortly after its initial release. Borderlands 4 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S: 2025) Gearbox delighted fans with a cinematic trailer for Borderlands 4, but it also raised plenty of questions. While the trailer hints at a potential shift in tone and visual style, one thing fans are hoping stays the same is the franchise’s signature humor. Comedy has always been a core part of Borderlands’ DNA, and we’ll have to wait until future trailers and gameplay reveals to see if this will continue with the new installment. Borderlands 4 is slated for a 2025 release, but the specifics of gameplay remain to be seen. Mafia: The Old Country (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S: 2025) Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel to the Mafia series, set in early 1900s Italy. Players will explore the origins of the Mafia and dive into a richly detailed, story-driven experience. Fans of the Mafia franchise can expect the same gripping narrative and intense action that made the previous games standout hits. With its atmospheric setting and potential for a fantastic story, this one is shaping up to be a standout for 2025. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle (PC, Xbox Series X/S: December 2024, PS5: Mid 2025) The adventure continues with Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, a game that has been generating hype since its initial reveal. Gamescom 2024 brought fans a deeper look, including new gameplay footage and a behind-the-scenes peek at its development. While Xbox players will get their hands on it first this December 2024, PS5 owners will have to wait until mid-2025. The game promises classic Indy action, filled with exploration, ancient mysteries, and thrilling quests. Other Major Announcements: Here are some other exciting titles revealed at Gamescom 2024: Sniper Elite: Resistance (PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S: 2025)The latest installment in the tactical shooter series. The Debate on Difficulty: Should Games Like Elden Ring and Black Myth Wukong Offer Easier Modes?

31 Jul, 2024
Vivid

In today’s gaming landscape, most games come with difficulty sliders—options like easy, normal, hard, or extreme. But then there are the games that don’t care about making things easy for you. Games like Elden Ring and Black Myth Wukong go beyond the norm, offering players a challenge that borders on brutal, with no easy mode to soften the blows. To be fair, not everyone wants to face down a near-impossible boss battle at midnight, dripping in sweat and frustration. Some players just want to vibe, enjoy the story, and immerse themselves in the game’s world without the pressure of relentless enemies. But when it comes to titles like Elden Ring or Black Myth Wukong… (cue clips of repeated character deaths in Wukong/Elden Ring), they’re not for the faint of heart. And that’s exactly the point. The Philosophy Behind Difficulty Developers like From Software (Elden Ring) and Game Science (Black Myth Wukong) design their games around a philosophy that difficulty is an essential part of the experience. For these developers, the goal isn’t just about reaching the end of the game; it’s about the journey of mastering complex mechanics, and yes, dying—a lot. The sense of accomplishment that comes from mastering these games and overcoming impossible odds is what makes the experience so special for many players. Take Black Myth Wukong, for example—you’re almost guaranteed to fail repeatedly when facing certain bosses. You’ll feel the frustration of losing to the same enemy for the 20th time. But, when you finally manage to pull off that flawless combo and defeat them? The euphoria is on another level. The fact that you couldn’t just dial down the difficulty adds to that moment of triumph, making victory feel so much sweeter. Not Punishment, But Persistence It’s easy to think that games like Elden Ring or Black Myth Wukong are punishing players on purpose, but in reality, they’re rewarding persistence. Their brutally tough design forces players to think, adapt, and sharpen their skills. Overcoming these challenges becomes an integral part of the journey, and while the experience is far from easy, it’s rewarding in a way that few other games are. What’s surprising is how popular these difficult games have become. Despite—or perhaps because of—their punishing difficulty, Elden Ring and Black Myth Wukong have sold millions of copies worldwide and racked up numerous awards. Their fan bases are massive, filled with players who relish the high level of difficulty. Should These Games Offer Difficulty Options? But this popularity leads to an important question: Should games like Elden Ring or Black Myth Wukong include difficulty options to make them accessible to a wider audience? On one hand, adding difficulty settings could open the door for more players to experience the rich worlds and intricate stories these games offer. It could allow those who prefer a more relaxed gameplay style to still enjoy the game without the stress of relentless combat. After all, not everyone enjoys the frustration of spending hours stuck on a single boss. On the other hand, changing the core difficulty of these games could risk losing what makes them so unique. The soul-crushing difficulty is a part of their identity, and for many players, the challenge is the reason they keep coming back. The sense of achievement that comes from conquering these games wouldn’t be the same if players could just tone down the difficulty whenever they hit a rough patch. Whether or not these games should introduce difficulty options remains a hot topic in the gaming community. Some argue that accessibility should take priority, while others believe that the integrity of the game’s design must be preserved. What do you think? Should games like Elden Ring and Black Myth Wukong offer difficulty sliders for a broader range of players, or should they stick to their hardcore roots and continue challenging gamers with their trademark difficulty?

Why Street Fighter Struggles to Gain Popularity in Africa Compared to Mortal Kombat

31 Jul, 2024
Vivid

Street Fighter, a global cornerstone of the fighting game genre, has gained immense popularity in regions like Asia, Europe, and Western countries. However, the same cannot be said for Africa, where the game has struggled to gain traction. Let’s explore some key reasons behind this. Cultural Appeal and Character Familiarity In Africa, many players gravitate towards games like Mortal Kombat due to its high levels of gore and brutality, which align with the excitement and intensity many gamers seek. In contrast, Street Fighter’s more cartoonish and less violent nature may not hold the same appeal. Characters like Scorpion and Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat dominate the scene, while Ryu and Chun-Li, icons in Asia, Europe, and Western countries, have not gained similar familiarity among African players. Accessibility and Game Distribution Historically, Mortal Kombat has benefited from better distribution across Africa, with pirated copies, console bundles, and arcade machines making the game more accessible. Street Fighter, however, has seen limited distribution, leading to less visibility. In contrast, regions like Japan, North America, and Europe have thriving arcade cultures, where Street Fighter built a solid foundation, aided by better marketing and consistent updates. Esports and Competitive Scene Africa's competitive gaming scene is still developing, and Mortal Kombat has started to establish a growing presence with local tournaments and online competitions. Street Fighter lacks a similar competitive presence, with fewer tournaments and sponsors, which in turn reduces player interest. Meanwhile, in Asia and Western countries, Street Fighter has a strong esports legacy, with annual tournaments like the Capcom Pro Tour and EVO keeping the game alive and well in those regions. Game Mechanics and Player Preferences In Africa, Mortal Kombat's mechanics, with a focus on brutal combos and finishing moves like Fatalities, appeal to both casual and competitive players. Street Fighter’s more technical and combo-heavy gameplay, which requires deep strategy and precision, might not resonate as well with players seeking faster-paced action. In Asia and other regions, the game's depth and technical challenges are embraced, with players dedicating time to mastering its mechanics. Media and Marketing Mortal Kombat has also benefited from its film franchise, which helped popularize the game across Africa. In contrast, Street Fighter's media adaptations, like anime and live-action films, have not had the same cultural impact. Without a strong media presence, Street Fighter has struggled to capture the imagination of African gamers, while it enjoys greater visibility in Asia, Europe, and the West due to broader marketing efforts and merchandising. The combination of cultural preferences, accessibility issues, competitive scenes, and media presence has resulted in Mortal Kombat overshadowing Street Fighter in Africa. While Street Fighter thrives in other regions, its journey in Africa faces unique challenges. Could broader distribution, more local tournaments, and greater media representation change this dynamic? Do you think Street Fighter has a chance to grow in popularity in Africa if these changes are made?

PlayStation State of Play Recap: Ghost of Yotei Steals the Show

31 Jul, 2024
Vivid

The latest PlayStation State of Play just wrapped up, and to be honest, most of the event was pretty underwhelming—right up until the end. That’s when everything changed, and Sony delivered a mic drop moment. (Cue action-packed scenes from the Ghost trailer.) At the close of the event, they dropped the bombshell we didn’t see coming: Ghost of Yotei! Yes, you read that right, a sequel to the legendary Ghost of Tsushima. (More epic trailer scenes, because we can’t get enough.) Ghost of Yotei: What We Know So Far This time, we’re headed north, to the breathtaking region surrounding Mt. Yotei in Northern Japan. Set nearly 400 years after the events of the original game, this isn’t just a continuation of Jin’s story. In fact, Jin Sakai won’t be making a return—after all, it’s been centuries since the events of Tsushima. But don’t worry, the new protagonist looks just as badass—maybe even more so. From the trailer, it seems like she’s got some wolves by her side, which is just chef’s kiss for fans of animal companions in games. Whether they’ll serve as combat partners or play some other role in the story remains to be seen, but we’re already all in for the ride. Combat and Visuals The combat, based on the snippets we saw, looks intense and brutal—just the way we like it. We’re talking about new weapons, sleek moves, and an overall level of fluidity that builds on what made the original Ghost of Tsushima such a standout. And let’s not forget the scenery—the landscapes around Mt. Yotei look absolutely stunning, continuing the trend of breathtaking environments that made the original game a visual masterpiece. No surprises there, since Ghost of Yotei is the follow-up to one of the best PlayStation games of all time. Oh, and did I mention? It’s PS5 Pro enhanced, making it the second reason after GTA 6 to start thinking about upgrading to the Pro. So, that’s the big takeaway from this State of Play. While the rest of the event may have left us wanting more, Ghost of Yotei definitely made up for it in the closing moments. Now the question is: How hyped are you for this sequel? Let us know in the comments below—what are you most excited about? The setting? The new protagonist? The potential wolf companion? And how did you feel about this latest State of Play overall?

Nintendo Switch 2: What We Know So Far

31 Jul, 2024
Vivid

Let’s dive into the latest buzz surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2! If you’ve been following the leaks, then you know there’s a lot of speculation flying around, and it looks like Nintendo is working on something huge—way beyond a minor upgrade like we saw with the PS5 to PS5 Pro. Potential Launch in 2025? Rumor has it that the Nintendo Switch 2 could launch in 2025, and the fact that Nintendo has teased an announcement coming soon only fuels the fire. While nothing’s confirmed yet, we can expect to hear more in the next six months, meaning we could be playing on a Switch 2 by this time next year. The Biggest Upgrade: 4K Support The most exciting rumor? 4K support on a Nintendo console. Yep, you heard that right—4K gaming could finally be coming to the Switch lineup, and it’s all thanks to Nvidia’s DLSS tech. This AI-powered magic takes lower-resolution games and upscales them to look much sharper, giving you a near-4K experience without needing native 4K graphics. Combine that with frame generation tech, and you’ve got a recipe for smoother gameplay than ever before. Other Leaks: Magnetic Joy-Cons, 1080p Screen, and More Of course, no new console would be complete without some other rumored upgrades. Some of the more interesting (and weird) leaks include magnetic Joy-Cons to replace the classic rail system, a 1080p LCD screen, a bigger battery, and even colored buttons. Take these with a grain of salt, but it’s safe to say that Nintendo is experimenting with ways to improve the user experience. What to Expect While the Switch 2 seems to be shaping up into a real powerhouse for Nintendo, don’t expect it to run GTA 6 or other next-gen AAA titles. But the focus on smoother performance and enhanced visuals makes it clear that Nintendo is serious about delivering a console that will stand out in the 4K era. Are You Excited? So, what do you think? Are you excited about the potential upgrades the Nintendo Switch 2 might bring? How powerful do you think it will be? Or are you not really into the whole Nintendo vibe?

And unlike some other consoles, you won’t need to fork out additional cash for a stand to keep it upright. It’s ready to go right out of the box, saving you both money and hassle. The Ultimate Controller and Game Pass The Xbox controller? A masterpiece of comfort and precision. With texturized triggers, a hybrid D-pad, and the perfect weight, it’s familiar yet refined. With all these features, you have to wonder—will the Xbox Series X 2TB be the best place to play GTA6 when it drops? I’d bet on it! Let’s talk—are you considering making the switch, or are you sticking with PlayStation?

5 Games You Can Play Over and Over Again

Vivid

There’s nothing worse than finishing an amazing game and knowing you’ll never touch it again. Luckily, some games are so good and packed with content that they keep calling you back for more. Here are 5 games that you can play and replay, and they’ll never get old. 5. Devil May Cry 5 Devil May Cry 5 is pure style. With its fast-paced, over-the-top combat, this game keeps you hooked with every battle. After each level, you’re graded on how stylish you are in combat, pushing you to improve and chase that coveted triple S rank. With three unique characters—each boasting their own fighting styles—and difficulty levels that’ll make you question your life choices, there’s always a reason to come back. Whether you're trying to master Nero’s Devil Breakers, Dante’s insane weapon switch-ups, or V’s summons, you’ll keep playing just to prove you can get better. 4. GTA 5 Let’s be honest, GTA 5 never truly dies. You finish the epic story mode, and just when you think it’s over, GTA Online pulls you back in. Whether you’re teaming up with friends for some wild heists, running your own nightclub, or causing chaos in the open world, the possibilities are endless. There’s always something new to do, whether it’s a new DLC drop, or just messing around in the city. You could lose days here—and honestly, you will. 3. Sports Games (FC25, UFC 5, NBA 2K25) People often joke that sports games like FC25, UFC 5, and NBA 2K25 are just the same thing every year. But let’s face it—starting a new career mode, chasing championship glory, or beating your friends in intense matchups never gets old. Every match is a fresh chance for triumph or hilarious failure (cue the Anthony meme). Plus, there’s nothing quite like trying to prove you’re the best, even if you’ve played the same game for years. 2. Elden Ring Elden Ring is massive. You might think you’ve finished it after defeating the final boss, but deep down, you know you’ve barely scratched the surface. The game’s world is full of secret bosses, hidden quests, and so many ways to build your character that it feels like a brand-new experience with every playthrough. Want to try a magic build this time? Maybe a pure strength tank? You can play Elden Ring for years and still find something new to discover or a different challenge to take on. 1. Hades and Returnal (Roguelikes) At the top of the list, we have Hades and Returnal, two roguelike games that keep you coming back for just one more try. Roguelikes are designed to make you start from scratch every time you die, with only your skills and maybe a few upgrades to carry over. But that’s where the addiction sets in. In Hades, every run feels fresh thanks to new abilities, weapons, and storylines, even if you die a lot. The satisfaction of making it further each time or unlocking new character moments never gets old. Returnal cranks this up with its sci-fi horror vibe, keeping you on edge with every run. You never know what’s waiting for you next, which is what makes both of these games so satisfying to replay. The unpredictability is half the fun. What Games Do You Have on Repeat? So, those are our top 5 games that you can play and replay without ever getting bored. Whether it's stylish combat, massive open worlds, or that one more run mentality, these games keep us hooked. What about you? Which games do you keep on repeat?

Astrobot: The Must-Play Game for Every PS5 Owner

31 Jul, 2024
Vivid

Astrobot is absolutely amazing! This game has been getting tons of love from gamers worldwide, and for good reason. If you own a PS5, I’m telling you, you need this game. It doesn’t matter what kind of games you usually play, or if you think it looks too cartoony—just go get Astrobot and thank me later. A Playful Love Letter to PlayStation’s History At its core, Astrobot is a playful tribute to PlayStation’s rich history. But it’s much more than a nostalgia trip. The level design is truly world-class, taking you on an adventure through creative and immersive environments. You’ll hop through time-bending casinos, explore Japanese bathhouses, and my personal favorite—mini versions of iconic PlayStation games. The levels inspired by God of War and Uncharted are so well-designed that it’s hard to believe they’re not full games on their own. It’s clear that Team Asobi, the developers, took the charm and whimsy of Mario, gave it a PS5 upgrade, and added a layer of PlayStation magic that every fan will appreciate. Ridiculously Fun Powers and Mechanics One of the standout features of Astrobot is the variety of powers Astro unlocks in every level. My personal favorite? The twin frog gloves. These let you fling yourself around like a superhero while bouncing enemy attacks back at them. Every level brings something new to the table, and each mechanic is so well thought out that it’s impossible not to smile as you play. You’ll find yourself leaning into the game as you guide Astro’s ship with the DualSense motion controls, and these little details make the gameplay all the more engaging. The DualSense Controller’s Perfect Showcase Let’s talk about the DualSense controller. Astrobot is the ultimate showcase for this incredible piece of hardware. The game uses the controller’s features in ways that are nothing short of magical. From feeling raindrops on your hands to the satisfying trigger feedback when you swing Astro’s punches, this game fully utilizes the power of the DualSense like no other title on the PlayStation roster. The way the game mimics sensations—like gliding on ice, moving through bolts, or swimming—is freakishly accurate. It’s a level of immersion you won’t expect until you experience it for yourself. 10 to 15 Hours of Pure Fun… and Then Some The main story will take you around 10 to 15 hours to complete, but even when the credits roll, you’ll still have plenty to do. There are 300 bots to collect, secret levels to discover, and hours upon hours of the most fun platforming gameplay you’ll ever experience. For me, Astrobot is a 10/10. It’s a game that showcases everything the PS5 is capable of, and it's a joyous, action-packed adventure from start to finish. So, What Are You Waiting For? Go buy Astrobot, play it, and let me know how you’d rate it. Whether you're a casual player or a hardcore gamer, this is one adventure you won’t want to miss!
