No Forza Horizon Disc? Here’s Why

14 May, 2025
Community

PlayStation gamers, Microsoft said y’all can gladly have Forza Horizon 5… but only as digital download. One of the best racing games I have ever played is finally available on PlayStation but, there is no disc version. Let’s talk about why.  Why Only Digital? Microsoft’s move to drop Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 is part of its bigger plan to bring Xbox exclusives to more players without losing control of the ecosystem. Digital only distribution gives Microsoft way more control over how the game is delivered, updated, and monetized. No physical discs means: Easier and faster updates and patches No worries about retail supply chains or packaging delays Tighter grip on licensing and resale restrictions Lower production and shipping costs It’s smart from a business perspective but yeah, not everyone’s thrilled. Why This Bums Out Physical Media Fans Physical games still have a loyal following. I’m definitely a disc lover. Who doesn’t love: Collecting their favorite titles Having a backup in case digital stores vanish The ability to resell, trade, or lend their games That, “I own this” feeling Sure, digital is convenient for some but, it just doesn’t feel the same. So far, Microsoft hasn’t said anything about plans for a disc release down the road. And considering how their ecosystem is leaning, don't hold your breath. Why Is Forza on PS5 At All? For years, Forza Horizon has been an Xbox staple, a flagship racing series with an almost cult-like following. But as Microsoft starts shifting toward a “game everywhere” model (especially after gobbling up studios left and right), the walls are coming down. Putting Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 is a major move toward that cross platform future, where Microsoft cares less about where you play, and more that you’re playing... and preferably spending. It’s also a strategic play to monetize their IP across as many devices as possible, without giving away the keys to the kingdom. Smart move. What Are Your Options? If you’re on PS5 and hyped to drift through Mexico in Forza Horizon 5, here’s what to do: Top up your digital wallet Head to the PlayStation Store Download and hit the road If you’re in Africa, you can grab your wallet top up easily from vividgold.africa Digital Wins This Round Love it or hate it, this is Microsoft dipping a toe into Sony’s pool on their terms. And if it goes well, don’t be surprised if more Xbox titles follow suit.   Were you hoping for a disc version? Or are you totally fine going full digital? Let me know in the comments, and until next time stay golden!

PS5 Pro and 8K: Hype vs Reality

13 May, 2025
Community

If you’ve ever unboxed a PS5 Pro, you’ve probably seen that shiny “8K” logo stamped somewhere on the box. It’s big, it’s bold, and it sounds futuristic as hell. But here’s the thing, that 8K badge is more marketing flex than gameplay reality. Let’s unpack what “8K support” really means for the PS5 Pro, and whether you’re actually going to be gaming in Ultra-Mega-Crystal-High-Definition anytime soon. Can the PS5 Pro Do 8K? Technically? Yes.Practically? Not really! The PS5 Pro can output 8K resolution, but only if the game supports it and if you’ve got an 8K TV. That’s a very big “if,” multiplied by two. And here's the thing, almost no PS5 games are developed to run natively at 8K. Why? Because rendering a full modern game at 8K is like asking your console to sprint a marathon while juggling flaming swords. It’s just not efficient, or necessary, for most developers. Why Developers Don’t Bother with 8K (Yet) Let’s be real, game devs aren’t trying to melt your console. They’re focused on: 4K resolution at higher frame rates (60fps, 120fps) Better ray tracing Faster load times Stable performance 8K textures and assets are massive, and the performance cost isn’t worth the payoff, especially when most players don’t even own 8K displays. The math just doesn’t add up. So What’s the 8K Label Actually Mean? In reality the 8K label just means that the PS5 Pro can output an 8K signal, not that games are rendered at 8K. Think of it like this... you’ve bought a sports car that can hit 300km/h. But you’re still driving it through rush hour traffic at 80. The potential is there, but the road (or in this case, the software) isn’t ready for it. Where 8K Actually Shows Up: Photo Modes The closest you’ll get to 8K content on PS5 Pro today? Photo mode. Games like: Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and others let you snap ultra high res screenshots. These images are rendered frame by frame, not in real time, so they can hit crazy pixel counts without killing your console. It’s awesome for wallpaper lovers and virtual photographers, but it’s not actual 8K gameplay. The Future of 8K Gaming on Consoles Will we ever see real 8K gaming on consoles like the PS5 Pro? Maybe. But probably not anytime soon. Most developers aren’t designing for it, and even Sony isn’t pushing it. The latest updates and marketing around the PS5 Pro focus on: 4K fidelity mode enhancements New ray tracing features AI upscaling (like PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) …not 8K gameplay. The focus is on smarter rendering not higher pixel counts. So, Should You Care About 8K on PS5 Pro? Honestly? Not right now. You’re better off caring about frame rate, ray tracing, load speeds, and visual stability. That’s where the PS5 Pro is really delivering. 8K is just a cherry on top for future proofing. A nice sticker to slap on the box, but not something you'll experience in most games anytime soon. Still holding out for native 8K gameplay? Or are you happy with 4K? Let’s talk in the comments and until next time, stay golden!

Ghost of Yotei: The Samurai Adventure You Didn't Know You Needed

08 May, 2025
Community

Ghost of Yotei is here. It’s personal. It’s raw.  And it’s dropping October 2, 2025, exclusively on PS5. Here’s why this isn’t just another samurai game, it’s the one you didn’t know you needed. Atsu’s Story: Revenge Served Ice Cold (and Aesthetic as Hell) Set over 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, this spiritual sequel takes place in the wild, snowy heart of Ezo, modern day Hokkaido. You play as Atsu, a lone mercenary with a tragic past and a kill list that would make Arya Stark proud. Sixteen years ago, Atsu’s family was massacred by a gang known as The Yotei Six. She was left for dead… literally, she was nailed to a burning ginkgo tree with the very katana she now carries (what a poetic weapon). Now she’s back, mask on, blade sharp, vengeance on her mind. You’ll hunt each of the Yotei Six in whatever order you choose. Think open world samurai hit list meets meditative character study. Ezo: Where Beauty Meets Brutality Mount Yotei towers in the distance. The land is vast, wild, and alive. According to Sucker Punch, this world is built for exploration on your terms. You can pause the bloodshed to build a campfire under the stars, hunt bounties for coins, or seek out legendary weapon masters to sharpen your skills. It’s not just Tsushima reskinned. Sucker Punch has evolved the open world design with more freedom and variety and judging from the first trailer, it shows. Oh, and yes, some fan favorite activities from Ghost of Tsushima will return, so you can still compose haiku in the middle of your murder rampage. Balance, baby. Gameplay: Blades, Bullets, and (Maybe?) Betrayals We haven’t seen a full combat breakdown yet, but here’s what we know so far: Dual-wielding is in. We see Atsu rocking two blades in the trailer, and it looks nasty in the best way. Gunplay is new. Yup, firearms are part of the arsenal now. Expect Edo era tech, not COD loadouts. Stealth is back. Atsu is on the run and being hunted herself. Expect stealth gameplay, ambush mechanics, and possibly some fresh surprises. Unlockable stances and attacks? Strong chance. The combat legacy of Tsushima isn’t going anywhere. This is still a single player, narrative driven experience at its core. Just you, a sword, a snowy mountain, and a grudge. The Ghost, Reimagined Atsu isn’t Jin Sakai. And that’s the point. Erika Ishii (the voice actress) brings the character to life with a performance that already feels emotionally charged and grounded. This is a story about survival, transformation, and revenge, but it’s also about what happens after the blood dries. Sucker Punch wanted something “fresh but familiar,” and from what we’ve seen so far, Ghost of Yotei is shaping up to be just that. A spiritual successor that dares to do its own thing. Editions, Extras, and Early Access Pre-orders opened on May 2, and there are three editions to choose from: Standard – Just the game, nothing else. Digital Deluxe – Includes extra gear: exclusive armor, dyes, weapons, a horse, and more. Collector’s Edition – All of the above, plus physical goodies and art that’s probably going to be sold out instantly. Every pre-order comes with six avatars and an in game mask, so if you want to look slick while slicing through thugs, you might want to lock that in right now. So… Is This the Samurai Game for You? If you loved Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei isn’t just more of the same. It’s sharper, darker, and more personal. Think less "honor and duty" and more "grief, rage, and redemption." The world feels handcrafted. The story feels intimate. The gameplay looks sleeker than ever. And with Atsu at the center of it all, this journey feels less like a blockbuster and more like a cult classic in the making. Are you sold on Ghost of Yotei? Let’s talk vengeance, vibes, and video games in the comments below. Until next time, stay golden!

The US Tariff's Effect on the Gaming Industry

25 Apr, 2025
Community

If you were planning on waiting for that sweet price drop to buy the next gen consoles or accessories, I have some terrible news for you my friend. The U.S Tariffs are here and they’re about to make our pockets hurt! So if you're thinking of getting a game console, please get one ASAP, like... now! Let me explain why. So, What’s Going On? Back in February, the US decided to impose tariffs on certain products coming from China (and various other countries) including electronics like consoles, accessories, and parts. When companies like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo make a console, a large portion of the parts come from China everything from the microchips inside to the plastic casing is often made overseas. The tariffs now raise the cost of importing these parts, and guess who gets to foot the bill? Yup, we do gamers!  How Much Does This Really Affect Us? The question is, how much of the bill are we footing? Let’s see, experts are projecting that at base, game consoles could see a 30% hike in their price. And that's just at base… Yikes. It's not just the consoles either, the price of accessories like gaming headsets, keyboards, and mice are all going to feel the sting. Why Doesn’t the Industry Just Absorb the Cost? Well, here’s the thing: making a console isn’t cheap. Even without tariffs, companies have tight margins. So, when something like a 145% tariff is slapped on imported goods, companies either have to eat that extra cost (which eats into profits) or pass it on to consumers.  *Spoiler Alert*: They almost always pass it on to us! What About Smaller Companies? Now, let’s talk about the smaller players accessory makers and indie developers. For them, tariffs can be even more of a nightmare. Many of these companies rely on affordable manufacturing overseas. If their costs go up, they either have to raise prices or sacrifice quality. And as any gamer knows, there’s only so much we’re willing to pay for a generic knockoff controller before we start searching for something that feels just right. Will It Ever Get Better? That’s the big question. There are talks about rolling back some of these tariffs, but with so many industries affected, it’s anyone’s guess when that will happen. Until then, we’ll likely continue to see higher prices on consoles, games, and accessories. Bottom Line? At the end of the day, tariffs are adding a serious cost to your gaming gear. While there’s no easy fix, one thing’s for sure your next console might cost a little more than it would’ve a few years ago… you hate to see it. How does this affect your future gaming plans?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Review

03 Dec, 2024
Kenneth

It’s been a month since Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 hit the shelves, and by now, the dust from the Desert Storm-inspired battlefields has settled. If you haven’t checked it out yet, here’s everything you need to know about the latest installment in this iconic series. The Campaign: Tactical Freedom Meets ‘90s Nostalgia Set in 1991 during the Desert Storm era, Black Ops 6 drops you into the boots of an international squad tackling a shadowy threat. From the sun-scorched deserts of Iraq to glitzy political galas, the campaign is a global thrill ride. What really stands out is the mission design. Open-ended objectives let you choose how to approach each challenge—whether that’s creeping through enemy lines in stealth mode or going full Rambo with an all-out assault. The freedom to play your way adds depth and replayability to the campaign. Visually, it’s stunning. The detailed environments and cinematic lighting make every mission feel like a blockbuster movie. And the orchestral soundtrack? Chef’s kiss. It perfectly complements the drama and tension of each moment. That said, the enemy AI can feel a bit, well, predictable. Even on normal difficulty, the challenge isn’t exactly nail-biting. My advice? Crank it up to hard mode for a more engaging experience. Multiplayer: Speed, Strategy, and Hilarious Chaos Multiplayer in Black Ops 6 takes everything you know and love from previous titles and cranks it up a notch. The new omnimovement system steals the show, allowing for high-speed sprints and dives in any direction. It’s fluid, fast, and downright exhilarating, giving combat a new layer of unpredictability. Then there’s the new Kill Order mode, a wild game of cat and mouse where one player becomes a high-value target with extra health and visibility on the map. It’s chaotic, it’s strategic, and it’s so much fun. It’s the kind of mode where teamwork, quick thinking, and a little bit of luck can turn the tide of a match. And let’s talk about the memes. The new hostage mechanic has become a viral sensation on social media, with players pulling off hilarious (and occasionally disastrous) hostage extractions. It’s unintentional comedy at its finest, and it adds a lighthearted twist to the intensity of multiplayer. Zombies: Nostalgia with a Twist If you’re a Zombies fan, you’re in for a treat. Black Ops 6 delivers the classic, round-based gameplay we all know and love, but with some exciting new layers. The maps are expansive, encouraging exploration and experimentation. New mechanics like environmental traps and resource crafting keep things fresh, while the relentless waves of the undead ensure the adrenaline never stops. It’s not a revolutionary leap forward for the Zombies mode, but it’s polished, satisfying, and addictive. For many players, this mode alone is worth the price of admission. Should You Buy It? If you’ve enjoyed any Call of Duty title in the past five years, Black Ops 6 feels like a natural evolution. It’s faster, smarter, and more dynamic, with plenty of content to keep you coming back. For those who’ve drifted away from the series (myself included, lol), this is the perfect time to return. The campaign’s tactical freedom, the chaotic brilliance of multiplayer, and the nostalgic fun of Zombies make it a solid entry point for both veterans and newcomers. Still undecided? With Black Ops 6 available on Game Pass, you can test the waters with a one-month subscription before committing to a full purchase. Your Turn How’s your experience been with Black Ops 6 so far? Are you vibing with the campaign, wreaking havoc in multiplayer, or braving the zombie apocalypse? Drop your thoughts in the comments, and let’s talk about it.  Until next time, stay golden!

Top 3 Choice-Based Games Where Your Decisions Shape the Story

28 Nov, 2024
Kenneth

Choice-based games offer something truly special: the power to craft your own story. Every decision you make feels weighty, not just for the characters you play but for the world they inhabit. Here are three standout games where your choices truly matter—and the endings prove it. 3. Until Dawn – A Horror Movie Where You Call the Shots If you’ve ever screamed at a horror movie character to “not go into the creepy basement,” Until Dawn is the game for you. This interactive horror story puts you in control of a group of friends stranded on a snow-covered mountain—what could go wrong, right? Well, everything. And it’s all up to you. The game employs the “butterfly effect” system, where even the smallest choices, like deciding to check out a strange noise, ripple into life-or-death consequences. With over 250 potential endings, the stakes feel sky-high. Here’s the twist: the game secretly tracks your phobias. Afraid of spiders? Creepy crawlies might make a surprise appearance. It’s a brilliant and downright unsettling way to keep you on edge. Who survives and who doesn’t is entirely in your hands, making every decision feel like a pulse-pounding gamble. 2. Detroit: Become Human – The Future of AI, One Choice at a Time In Detroit: Become Human, the year is 2038, and androids have become an integral part of human life. But what happens when they start thinking for themselves? You’ll find out as you step into the shoes of three androids—Kara, Markus, and Connor—each navigating a world teetering on the edge of revolution. With 85 possible endings, this game is as much a moral playground as it is an emotional rollercoaster. Your decisions shape not only the characters’ destinies but the future of androids and humans alike. Will you ignite a rebellion, find peace, or see everything spiral into chaos? Fun fact: the game’s director, David Cage, wrote a 2,000-page script to account for every narrative branch. That level of detail ensures that every playthrough is unique, making this one of the most replayable choice-based games out there. 1. Baldur’s Gate 3 – 17,000 Endings, One Epic Adventure Let’s pause for a second and appreciate this: Baldur’s Gate 3 has 17,000 possible endings. Yes, you read that right. This RPG masterpiece doesn’t just dabble in choice; it fully commits. Every decision you make, from your relationships with party members to how you tackle quests, contributes to your story’s outcome. You can shape alliances, topple foes, or even romance certain characters in ways that dramatically shift the game’s narrative. This level of customization earned Baldur’s Gate 3 the title of 2023’s Game of the Year and the undying adoration of RPG fans everywhere. The attention to detail ensures that no two players have the same journey, making it one of the most personal storytelling experiences in gaming history. Do You Choose Choice? Choice-based games aren’t just about the endings—they’re about the journey, the surprises, and the emotional weight of each decision. Whether it’s surviving a mountain of horrors, leading an android revolution, or crafting an epic fantasy tale, these games let you play author in ways that stick with you long after the credits roll. Are you a fan of branching storylines, or do you prefer a more straightforward narrative? If you’ve played any of these games, how far did you go to get the ending you wanted? Let’s chat in the comments. And as always, stay golden!

Why Certain Video Game Genres Dominate Specific Regions

28 Nov, 2024
Kenneth

Have you ever noticed how some games are huge in one part of the world but barely get 5 players in another? Here’s why certain genres rule different regions. In East Africa, Kenya in particular, FC is massive. Football is practically a lifestyle here, with fierce loyalty to teams and players fueling the hype. This passion translates into the virtual world, where players go head-to-head as their favorite clubs, right from the couch. And while many Kenyan gamers play other games besides FC, there are way more FC players sweating their asses off in arcades. In North America, shooters and action-packed titles are what’s hot. Call of Duty and Fortnite are top choices, and this kinda ties back to American pop culture, which loves high-intensity, fast-paced entertainment—think blockbuster movies and high-adrenaline sports. NBA 2K, UFC 5, and Madden are also huge in the USA for the same reasons. There’s also the social side of multiplayer gaming, where friends team up or face off, making it a social staple. In Southeast Asia, MMORPGs like Dota 2 and League of Legends are the staple. Many players here love competitive, team-based games that require skill and strategy. eSports is huge in Asia too, with national pride and major tournaments driving a strong community. Low PC hardware costs in the region have also helped grow the genre. So Europe has an interesting mix of genres, but it leans heavily toward simulation games like Football Manager and Farming Simulator. In countries like Germany, realistic, detail-rich simulations are all the hype, while Football Manager speaks to Europe’s love for football.  Finally, South America. Do I even need to…it’s FC. I mean, in Brazil and Argentina, football is a religion. What else were they going to play? Each region’s favorite genre reflects its culture, values, and sometimes, access to tech—gaming is global, but the trends are different. Do you think all this will change? And if so, when? Let’s talk about it in the comments, and until next time, stay golden.

Stolen PS5 Recovery Guide

13 Nov, 2024
Kenneth

Few things are as frustrating as having your PlayStation 5 stolen. Not only is it a pricey piece of tech, but it also holds countless hours of gaming progress, personal data, and even payment information. If you’re facing this nightmare, here’s a guide to help you take steps toward recovering your PS5—or at the very least, make it unusable for whoever took it. Step 1: Contact the Correct PlayStation Support Team PlayStation has regional support, meaning the team you’ll need to contact varies based on the serial number of your PS5. For example, if your serial number starts with “EU,” you’ll need to reach out to UK support. Do some quick research to identify the appropriate support region for your console before you proceed. Step 2: Prepare Important Details to Prove Ownership Once you’re ready to contact PlayStation support, have the following information on hand. These details will help verify your ownership and make the support process smoother: PSN Account Details: Take a screenshot or have your PSN account information accessible. Purchase Receipt: PlayStation support will need proof that your PS5 was purchased through an authorized retailer. This means your receipt should show the vendor’s name, purchase date, and ideally the PS5’s serial number. Police Report Information: File a report with your local police department and record the details. This includes your country, city, police station name, report date, and the official report number. MAC IP Address of Your PS5: This is a key piece of information PlayStation support may require. Here’s how you can retrieve it: Power on your PS5 (without a disk in the drive). Go to the settings icon (gear icon) at the top right of the home screen. Navigate to System > System Software > Console Information. Locate and note down the MAC IP address of your console. Recording your MAC IP address now and saving it somewhere secure can save you valuable time and effort if your PS5 ever goes missing. Step 3: What PlayStation Support Can Do if Your PS5 is Stolen PlayStation support generally won’t track stolen devices, but they can disable it remotely, making it useless to anyone else. This effectively “kills” the PS5, rendering it unplayable. While this won’t return the console to you, it does give you some peace of mind knowing it can’t be used. Alternatives: Is Tracking Your PS5 Possible? While PlayStation support itself won’t actively track your PS5, there may be other methods you can explore to track it on your own. If you’d like to know more about these options, let us know, and we might create a separate guide covering potential ways to locate your PS5. Support from Authorized Retailers If you purchased your PS5 from us and it ends up getting stolen, feel free to reach out. We’ll assist you in connecting to the appropriate support region and provide guidance on what to do next. In Summary Losing a PS5 is tough, but by acting quickly, providing thorough information to PlayStation support, and keeping key details like your MAC IP address recorded, you have some tools to deal with the situation. For any further questions, feel free to drop a comment below, and until next time—stay safe k and stay golden!

This thing comes with five stopping points, giving you anything from a full pull to a super shallow press. Whether you’re in a high-speed shooter where you need to spam shots or in a situation requiring precision, the BFG has you covered. The best part? The back-end switches make adjusting these triggers ridiculously easy, and honestly, it almost feels like cheating with how fast you can react. Astrobot: The Must-Play Game for Every PS5 Owner

31 Jul, 2024
Vivid

Astrobot is absolutely amazing! This game has been getting tons of love from gamers worldwide, and for good reason. If you own a PS5, I’m telling you, you need this game. It doesn’t matter what kind of games you usually play, or if you think it looks too cartoony—just go get Astrobot and thank me later. A Playful Love Letter to PlayStation’s History At its core, Astrobot is a playful tribute to PlayStation’s rich history. But it’s much more than a nostalgia trip. The level design is truly world-class, taking you on an adventure through creative and immersive environments. You’ll hop through time-bending casinos, explore Japanese bathhouses, and my personal favorite—mini versions of iconic PlayStation games. The levels inspired by God of War and Uncharted are so well-designed that it’s hard to believe they’re not full games on their own. It’s clear that Team Asobi, the developers, took the charm and whimsy of Mario, gave it a PS5 upgrade, and added a layer of PlayStation magic that every fan will appreciate. Ridiculously Fun Powers and Mechanics One of the standout features of Astrobot is the variety of powers Astro unlocks in every level. My personal favorite? The twin frog gloves. These let you fling yourself around like a superhero while bouncing enemy attacks back at them. Every level brings something new to the table, and each mechanic is so well thought out that it’s impossible not to smile as you play. You’ll find yourself leaning into the game as you guide Astro’s ship with the DualSense motion controls, and these little details make the gameplay all the more engaging. The DualSense Controller’s Perfect Showcase Let’s talk about the DualSense controller. Astrobot is the ultimate showcase for this incredible piece of hardware. The game uses the controller’s features in ways that are nothing short of magical. From feeling raindrops on your hands to the satisfying trigger feedback when you swing Astro’s punches, this game fully utilizes the power of the DualSense like no other title on the PlayStation roster.
